Designer Daily: Chromat

Edited by

Chromat isn’t just another fashion line. In fact, each collection is a structural experiment for the human body. Hailing from Virginia, designer Becca McCharen‘s education is based in architecture and urban design, apparent in the structural intricacies of her undergarments. Her first fashion collection in 2008 was inspired by redneck street style and the weighty textures of plaid flannel, black leather and denim, and she continues to use the influence of architecture from scaffolding and city maps to build her collections. We’re falling for her cool girl demeanor, and you will too after checking out the Chromat Autumn/Winter collection after the jump.

Karlizzle for Shizzle: Lagerfeld and Snoop Dogg Team Up for a Music Video

Edited by

Looking back, a collaboration seems almost inevitable. One has been one of the most influential forces in high fashion for the better part of his life and one  has been under the influence and high for the better part of his life. Also, neither seems to care who they collaborate with just as long as there’s a check involved. OGs Karl Lagerfeld and Snoop Dogg lend some high-voltage star power to French DJ Jean Roch‘s “Saint Tropez.” Sadly, though, Karl and Snoop aren’t trading rhymes and dimes. Instead the Kaiser plays — surprise, surprise — God! welcoming Jean Roch to heaven with an awkward reading of, “You were never told that Saint-Tropez is paradise?” Meanwhile, if I saw Karl Lagerfeld greeting me in the afterlife, I’d be pretty sure I had ended up in the other place, but that’s neither here nor there. Video after the jump!

Cicciabella Names Boot After 7-Year-Old Diva

Edited by

Generally, you must be famous to have something named after you, i.e. Mulberry’s “Lana Del Rey Bag” or Louboutin’s “The Blake” (Blake Lively) shoe, but we know one 7-year-old diva who has already broken that rule. Slipper company Cicciabella has officially named one of their boots “The Eden” after retired reality TV pageant princess Eden Wood. The boot is one of six from Cicciabella’s new Cowgirl Riders collection, featuring western-inspired vintage prints, designed for your typical trendy tot. Videography: Whitney Houston

Edited by

Though she ‘s now belting in that great sold out concert hall in the sky, Whitney Houston left behind a catalog of classic tunes that redefined what it means to sang. Visually, her model good looks were a hit with the MTV crowd and as a result Whitney was a huge crossover success — picking up the torch passed to her by godmother and Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Throughout the 90s Whitney made a series of comebacks, effectively earning her diva stripes and also some of the biggest hits of her career. Her output was more erratic in the 00s, but she at least had one last hit with the Alicia Keys-penned “Million Dollar Bill.” While we may mourn Whitney Houston’s untimely death,  we’ll continue to dance, emphatically point and lip-sync for our lives to her timeless music.
